Hurrican Eta

Hurricane Eta made landfall off the coast of Nicaragua on Monday evening and has caused major damage to low lying areas in that country as a Category four hurricane. Since making landfall it has been reduced to a tropical depression and is slowly creeping westward and is expected to continue its path until it makes its way across the country emerging off the coast of Belize.
The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) has issued flood warnings for the Cayo, Belize, Stann Creek and Toledo Districts. Persons living along the Mopan, Macal and Belize Rivers are being asked to be on alert for flood waters other low lying areas in the Southern part of the country are also being asked to be vigilant as flooding is expected as water makes its way off the hills and mountains.
Hurricane Eta became a record-breaking 28th named storm in the Atlantic hurricane season.
