A business in Corozal was the target of an armed robbery at around 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19. Patrons of the store were caught off guard when armed men who covered their faces and hands entered Gou Tai Store and proceeded to rob the owner. Fearing for his life and safety, 30-year-old Hai Quing handed over an undisclosed amount of cash before a customer, Mario Carrillo, was himself robbed of his wallet. This all took place as one of the two robbers forced the customers who were in the store at the time toward the back of the store where he kept an eye on them.
When they were done with their crime, the thieves put their loot inside a plastic container before making good their escape. The incident was captured on surveillance footage but no arrests have yet been made.
