Wayne Reynolds

A Belize City security guard, who has been accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old on at least five separate occasions, has been granted bail. Wayne Reynolds, 59, was taken to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 where he learnt that he must stand trial in the Supreme Court for the indicatable charges. He was unrepresented in court when his preliminary inquiry started before Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser. Prosecutor in the case, Cpl. Christopher Smith, submitted as many as ten police statements including a statement from the victim. With that, Chief Magistrate Fraser informed Reynolds that because a primafacie case has been established against him, the case was submitted to the Supreme Court. Reynolds will have to stand trial at the January 2021 session of the Supreme Court. Until then, he was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 which he was able to meet.
The incidents date back to 2018, the same year that Reynolds was charged with five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse. According to the victim, 12-years-old at the time, Reynolds had sexual intercourse with her on five different occasions.
