An 18-year-old resident of Belize City and construction worker is on remand at the Belize Central Prison for his alleged role in a robbery which took place in Mahogany Heights, Belize District. Barry Tillett is one of three persons, two not yet arrested, who the police believe to be responsible for the armed robbery at Anya’s Store. The incident took place on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 when Tillett, while armed with a firearm, allegedly stole $1,200 cash and two cellphones from Wenlin Li, all to a total value of $6,900. It is also alleged that while armed with the firearm, he stole a cellphone from Natalie Nicholson, an employee of Li, valued at just over $200.
He was read two counts of robbery in court and due to the nature of the offense, he was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 4, 2020.
