A Cooperation Health Agreement was signed between the governments of Belize and the Republic of Cuba. It is a testimony of the 25-year long health relationship enjoyed between the people and government of both countries. Belize has benefitted greatly in forms of training and capacity building of its human resources within the health sector. Likewise, we have been assisted through programs to promote health education within the community.
The 2020-2021 Agreement was signed, both in English and Spanish, by Belize’s Minister of Health, Hon. Pablo Marin, and Ambassador of Cuba for Belize, H.E. Lisette Pérez Pérez in a brief ceremony held in Belmopan on Monday, October 5, 2020. The Government of Belize (GOB) acknowledges the continued support and diplomatic relationship which has been enjoyed between the two countries, specifically the areas amid the global COVID-19 pandemic. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Belize, the Republic of Cuba has assisted by allowing 59 health professionals to travel to Belize through the Henry Reeve Brigade. They have been working across the country to help manage COVID-19 cases. This partnership and commitment between both countries will further strengthen the relationship for many years to come.
