Three village men found inside a car along with an illegal firearm along with ten live rounds of ammunition are on remand at the Belize Central Prison. According to police, Ryan Carcamo, a 30-year-old truck operator of Double Head Cabbage, was along with Ryan Young, 36-year-old barber of Bermudian Landing, and Alex McFadzean, a 29-year-old bus driver, inside a vehicle on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. The men were inside a Toyota vehicle in front of Cassasola Snack Shop located in Bermudian Landing in the Belize District when the discovery of a 9mm pistol without serial number was found. Aside from the weapon, police also found ten live rounds of 9mm ammunition, neither of which any of the men had licenses for.
The trio appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser where they were arraigned on a charge of possession of a firearm without a gun license and one count of keeping ammunition without a gun license. Carcamo was represented by attorney Oscar Selgado while both Young and McFadzean were unrepresented. They each pleaded not guilty to the charges but due to the nature of the offenses, they were denied bail and remanded to custody at the Belize Central Prison until December 2, 2020.
So far, Selgado has begun to prepare documents to have his client’s bail application heard as soon as Friday.
