A Belama grandmother and grandson have been jointly charged for possession of weed. Brenda Vasquez, 78, and Kristian Young, 26, appeared before Magistrate Stephanie Gillett on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 to answer to a charge of possession of a controlled drug for allegedly having 30.9 grams of cannabis in their possession. The pair was unrepresented in court and pleaded not guilty to the charge. They were granted bail of $1,500 plus one surety of the same which they were able to meet. They are both due back in court on October 4, 2020.
Police say that the drugs were found inside a bedroom occupied by Young in the Belama community of Belize City. Unfortunately for 78-year-old Vasquez, she was at the home at the time and that was why she was also arrested and charged.
