Tevin Abraham remanded for armed robbery

There was an armed robbery which took place at the Bowen and Bowen Sales Center located in Ladyville Village, Belize District. At around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, employees were held at gunpoint and tied up by a pair of robbers who made off with an assortment of items. During the incident, an armed security guard met with the duo but, unfortunately, was outnumbered and a struggle ensued. One of the assailants came to be injured before the two made their escape.
For this crime, one person, Tevin Abraham, has been arrested and remanded. Abraham, 29, is known to the law and is one of the two persons police believe to be responsible for the incident. The Belize City resident appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford on Monday, July 27 and was read two counts of robbery. He is accused of stealing a 9mm Smith & Wesson firearm as well as $730.50 from the company. For the firearm he used in the commission of the crime, a .22 pistol, he was also charged with one count of keeping a firearm without being granted a gun license. Given the nature of the offenses, he was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until September 25, 2020.
