A video has been making its rounds on social media where two persons, a man and woman, are seen having sexual relations. Throughout the video, which explicitly shows the act, they are being coerced by some third party in the background, who has seen been identified as one of three police officers responsible. According to the man in the video, he and the mentally challenged woman were forced by the three officers to engage in the sexual act when they were met leaving a building on Vernon Street.
On Monday, April 6, 2020, the man, a resident of Belize City, and the woman were reportedly standing near a building at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Vernon Street. They were approached by the three armed and uniformed officers who proceeded to ask the pair of their business in the area. According to the man, the officers suggested that they were inside the building having sex, a claim which he refuted. The officers, however, seemingly did not believe their story and then somehow intimidated or coerced the pair into having sexual relations while the officers recorded.
Seeing that the man accused at least three officers of abusing their power, officers who are expected to serve and protect, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams commented. He says that one of the officers who coerced the pair to engage in the act and film it has been detained. The other two accused are being sought and the trio is expected to be charged.
