The Premier League of Belize Closing Season competition continued over the last weekend with three games on the schedule.
On Sunday 1st March, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, the league’s leading team Verdes FC successfully defended its home turfs when it blanked the visiting Altitude FC by the score of 1-0.
The only goal of the game was scored by Jerome James in the 87th minute of play to give his team the victory.
At the Placencia Football Field in Placencia Village, the visiting Bandits Sport defeated the home team Placencia Assassins FC by the score of 3-0.
The first goal of the game was scored by Georgie Welcome in the 23rd minute of play via a penalty kick to give his team a 1-0 lead. The Bandits Sport took its 1-0 lead into the half.
In the second half of the game, the Bandits Sport lead extended when Elroy Kuylen scored his goal in the 59th minute of play to give his team a 2-0 lead. That lead was further extended when Evan Mariano scored the final goal of the game in the 75th minute of play for the 3-0 victory.
And on Saturday 29th February at the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town, the home team San Pedro Pirates defeated the visiting Wagiya SC by the score of 2-0.
The San Pedro Pirates FC first goal of the game was scored by Jessie Smith in the 33rd minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. That lead was extended when Jessie Smith scored his second and final goal of the game in the 45th minute of play to give his team a 2-0 lead.
The competition will continue this coming weekend with three more games on the schedule.
