The Premier League of Belize 2019-2020 Closing Season competition continued over the last weekend with three games on the schedule.
On Sunday 23rd February at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, the home team Verdes FC regained the lead in the competition when it defeated the visiting BDF FC by the score of 3-1.

However, the visiting BDF FC was able to cut the score into half when Andir Chi scored his team’s only goal of the game in the 67th minute of play to bring his team within a goal of Verdes FC. Unfortunately, this was not to be so as the Verdes FC defence did not concede anymore goals.
The final goal of the game was scored by Verdes’ FC Krisean Lopez in the 90+5 minutes of the game to give his team the 3-2 win and sole possession of first place.
At the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town, the visiting Placencia Assassins FC and the host team Wagiya SC played to a 0-0 draw.

Bandits Sport was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Facundo Garnier scored the first goal of the game in the 40th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. A lead that the visiting Bandits Sport took into the halftime.
It was not until well into the second half of the game, that the San Pedro Pirates FC, was able to make it onto the scoreboard when Pablo Mendizabal scored the equalising goal in the 64th minute of play to tie the match at 1-1. The San Pedro Pirates FC was able to take the lead when Jessie Smith scored his team’s go-ahead goal in the 83rd minute of play to give his team a 2-1 lead.
