The Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (BOCGA) signed a Sports Collaboration Agreement with the Cuban Olympic Committee in Havana, Cuba on January 21, 2020. Through that agreement, both countries agree to strengthen each other’s relations of permanent cooperation in every area of Olympic activities. They have also agreed to contribute to raising the sporting levels both in Belize and Cuba. Those are to include the organization of sport programs; training of coaches and specialists; sports medicine; sport for all; anti-doping control; and sport management.
This agreement will contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation and exchanges between both countries based on mutual respect and equality and to the benefit and the development of sports. Belize is the first of the forty-one countries in the Americas under the Olympic Movement to sign a sports collaboration agreement with the Cuban Olympic Committee. The agreement became effective January 21, 2020 and will be valid for five years.
