Verdes FC early leaders of the Premier League of Belize Closing Season competition

The Premier League of Belize 2019-2020 Closing Season competition continued over the last weekend with three games on the schedule.
On Saturday 18th January, at the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town, the visiting Altitude FC and the defending champions San Pedro Pirates played to a 1-1 draw. The visiting Altitude FC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Jardehl Muschamp scored the only goal of the game for his team in the 31st minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead.
It was not until the 74th minute of play that the defending champions, San Pedro Pirates was able to make it onto the scoreboard when Pablo Mendizabal scored the equalising goal for his team.
At the sound of the long blast the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
On Sunday 19th January, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, the newly crowned Opening Season champions, Verdes FC defeated the visiting Wagiya Sporting Club by the score of 2-1.
The host team Verdes FC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Jordy Polonco scored the first goal of the game in the 5th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead.
The visiting Wagiya SC finally made it onto the scoreboard when Ralph Flores scored the equalising goal in the 55th minute of play to tie the score at 1-1. However, the host team was determined to come up with a victory at any cost and was so led by Jhon Vergara when he scored the go-ahead goal in the 67th minute of play to secure a victory for his team.
And in the final game of the day played at the MCC Grounds, the BDF FC defeated the visiting Placencia Assassins FC by the score of 3-2.
The host team BDF FC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Camilo Sanchez scored the first goal of the game in the 7th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. The visiting Placencia Assassins FC tie the score at 1-1 when Jhon Valencia scored the equalising goal in the 25th minute of play. The Placencia Assassins FC took the lead when Jhon Valencia scored the go-ahead goal in the 33rd minute of play via a penalty kick to give his team a 2-1 lead.
However, that lead was short-lived as the BDF Camilo Sanchez scored the equalising goal via a penalty kick in the 36th minute of play to tie the score at 2-2. The BDF final goal of the game was scored by Andir Chi in the 90+3 minute of play to give his team the victory.
