Time really does fly! In just a couple weeks, it will be bye-bye 2019 and hello 2020! Now is the time to take a couple of hours to sit down and think about the upcoming year. It’s a new year and a new chance to follow your path wherever you want to go.
Here’s my advice on how to make 2020 your best year ever:
Don’t think about making the coming year your best year ever. Just do it. You might not even notice that it is your best year yet until the end of the year. To make 2020 the best year in your life, you won’t even need to make every day of the coming year greatest day of your life. You need maybe about 20 exceptionally great days plus a couple of hundred of little above average days, plus the usual couple or 10 bad days – the rest can be totally average.
Start by taking it day by day. Continuously do a slightly above average job, be above average grateful, above average focused, and above average happy.
Set your goals every day and then do your best to reach most of them. If you reach 50% of them you should be fine. Remember you are already further ahead than the 97% of people who don’t set goals at all.
Write down three to five things you are grateful for every day. This is huge! Being in a state of gratitude attracts more positive things to your life.
Take rejection like a boss and try again, and again, and again. Fail many times. Fail your way to success like Thomas Edison did.
Take criticism constructively even if it wasn’t meant to be so, and learn from it.
Read a book a week and watch a lot less TV.
Focus on one task at a time instead of multitasking.
Meditate for five minutes a day and take lots of walks in nature.
Plan your days ahead.
You can even procrastinate…some stuff.
If you face about eighty-five percent of the situations that make me uncomfortable or afraid, head-on instead of procrastinating and talking yourself out of it; if you only reach forty to fifty percent of your goals, you can still have the best year of your life!
That’s about it. No big thing. Just a lot of small things that add up.
Try it!
