Bandits Sport new leaders of the Premier League Opening Season competition

The Premier League of Belize Opening Season competition continued over the weekend with four games on the schedule.
On Saturday 19 October, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the host team Bandits Sport, blanked the visiting BDF FC by the score of 2-0 to take over the lead in the Opening Season.
The first goal of the game was scored by Carlos Urtilla in the 45th minute of play to give the host team Bandits Sport a 1-0 lead. Bandits Sport took the slim lead into the break and well into the second half of the game before Evan Martinez was able to score in the closing minutes of the game 90+2 minutes of the game to give his team the 2-0 victory.
Meanwhile, at the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town, the home team San Pedro Pirates FC picked up its third win of the campaign when it edged out the previously unbeaten Verdes FC by the score of 2-1.
The visiting Verdes FC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when the league’s leading goal scorer Mariano Landero scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. a lead that it took into the break and into the second half of the game. It was not until the 58th minute of play that the host team the San Pedro Pirates, was able to get onto the scoreboard when Facundo Garnier was able to score the equalising goal.
The San Pedro Pirates FC’s final goal was scored by Henry Vivas in the 63rd minute of play to break the 1-1 tie and to give the San Pedro Pirates the win.
The San Pedro Pirates FC win however is marred by many suspect calls by the referee.
At the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town, FF Valley Pride FC picked up its first win of this year’s campaign when it defeated the visiting Placencia Assassins FC by the score of 3-2.
The home team FF Valley Pride FC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Alexander Peters scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute of play to give is team an early lead. The lead was then extended when Alexander Peters scored his second goal of the game in the 12th minute of play. Ashley Torres scored the first goal of the game for the visiting Placencia Assassins FC in the 35th minute of play to cut the lead to a 2-1 score.
In the second half of the game, Placencia Assassins FC’s Dion Moguel scored the equalising goal in the 66th minute of play to tie the score at 2-2. Unfortunately, that did not last as Jacinto Bermudez scored FF Valley Pride FC’s third and final goal of the game in the 77th minute of play to give his team the 3-2 win.
The competition then continued on Sunday 20 October with one game on the schedule. At the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town, Wagiya Sporting Club blanked Altitude FC by the score of 6-0.
The goals for Wagiya Sporting club were scored by Donell Arzu in the 24th minute of play, Sean Caliz in the 42nd minute of play, Ralph Flores in the 49th minute of play, Kenton Flores in the 58th minute of play, John King in the 80th minute of play and Devanny Tillett in the 85th minute of play.
The competition will continue this coming weekend with four more games on the schedule.
