The Premier League of Belize 2019-2020 Opening Season competition continued over the last weekend with four games on the schedule.
On Sunday 29th September, 2019, at the Placencia Field in Placencia Village, the visiting co-leader of the competition Bandits Sports blanked the home team Placencia Assassins FC by the score of 1-0 to maintain its co-leader status.
The only goal of the game was scored by Kevin Guevara in the 29th minute of play to give Bandits Sport the win.
Meanwhile, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, the other co-leader of the competition Verdes FC white-washed Wagiya FC by the score of 2-0.
The first goal of the game was scored by Trimayne Harris in the 2nd minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead.
The Verdes FC defence played superb ball and was able to protect its slim lead. A lead that it took well into the second half of the game when Desmond Wade scored his team’s second goal of the game in the 85th minute of play for a 2-0 lead and the win.
While at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town, the visiting BDF FC defeated FF Valley Pride FC by the score of 4-0.
The first goal of the game was scored by Camilo Sanchez in the 12th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. The lead was increased when Jesse Smith scored his team’s second goal of the game in the 40th minute of play to give his team a 2-0 lead. That lead was further increased when Jaren Lambey scored his team’s third goal of the game in the 44th minute of play for a 3-0 lead.
The first half of the game ended 3-0 in favour of the visiting BDF FC.
In the second half of the game, the BDF FC’s Justin Trapp scored his team’s fourth and final goal of the game in the 79th minute of play to give his team the 4-0 victory.
And on Saturday 28th September, at the San Pedro Stadium in Ambergris Caye, the visiting Altitude FC and the defending champions the San Pedro Pirates played to a 1- 1 draw.
The home team San Pedro Pirates FC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Henry Vivas scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead.
The San Pedro Pirates FC defence was able to keep the Altitude FC offence for almost the entire game as it defended its slim lead. However, the visiting Altitude FC’s Andres Orozco changed all of it when he scored the equalising goal in the 85th minute of play to tie the score at 1-1.
The defence of both teams did not conceded any more goals for the remaining part of the game and as a result the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The competition will continue this coming weekend with four more games.
