Miller to Wagner: Pay up!

A properly irate Mayor Bernard Wagner was grilled for the better part of Wednesday October 2 in the Supreme Court before Justice Courtney Abel. Wagner is before the court after he was sued by former City Administrator, Candice Miller, who is claiming $490,000 for her wrongful termination from the Council just a few weeks after the People’s United Party took office. Miller claims that she was basically victimized by the Mayor who, because she is a member of the United Democratic Party, trumped charges against her and fired her.
In court, attorney for Miller, Magali Perdomo, made the case against the Mayor that he had no grounds upon which he could have fired Miller. She first dealt with the issue of Miller being put on suspension and later fired by the vindictive mayor. During most of her examination of Wagner, he was openly curt and tense and at times even raised his voice against Perdomo.
The matter has not concluded and will continue on Thursday, possibly concluding on Friday and Justice Abel giving his judgment shortly thereafter.
