Bandits Sport and Verdes FC remain at the top of the standing in Premier League competition

The Premier League of Belize Opening Season competition continued over the last weekend with four games on the schedule.
On Saturday 14 September, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the home team Bandits Sports won handily over the visiting FF Valley Pride by the score of 6-2.
The home team, Bandits Sport was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Highking Roberts scored the first goal of the game in the 14th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. The visiting FF Valley Pride was able to make it onto the scoreboard in the closing minutes of the first half of the game when Eddison Hernandez scored the equalising goal for his team in the 44th minute of play to tie the score at 1-1.
However, in the second half of the game, the Bandits Sport offence came alive when it tallied five more goals for the victory. Roberto Lime de Silva untied the score when he scored his team’s second goal of the game in the 52th minute of play for a 2-1 lead. The lead was then increased when Georgie Welcome scored in the 58th minute of play for a 3-1 lead. Andres Makin then made it a 4-1 score when he scored in the 63rd minute of play. An own goal by Bandits Sport Khalil Velasquez made it a 4-2 game. But that did not stop the Bandits from scoring again when Roberto Lime de Silva scored his second goal of the game in the 79th minute of play for a 5-2 lead. The final goal of the game was scored by Gabriel Ramos in the 90+3 minutes of the game to give Bandits Sports the 6-2 win.
On Sunday, 15 September at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, co-leaders of the competition Verdes FC kept the pace up when it defeated the visiting Altitude FC by the score of 5-1.
The host team Verdes FC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Krisean Lopez scored the first goal of the game in the 7th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. The lead was increased when Mariano Landero scored his first goal of the game in the 20th minute of play via a penalty kick to give his team a 2-0 lead. The lead was cut in half when Altitude’s Andres Orozco scored in the 26th minute of play via a penalty kick for his team. However, Mariano Landero scored his second goal of the game in the 27th minute of play to give is team a 3-1 lead. The lead was further stretched when Mariano Landero scored his third goal of the game in the 41st minute of play for a 4-1 lead. The first half of the game ended in favour of the home team Verdes FC by the score of 4-1.
Verdes FC’s final goal of the game was scored by Richard Jimenez in the 92nd minute of play for that gave his team the 5-1 victory.
At the MCC Grounds in Belize City, the host team BDF FC and the visiting Placencia Assassins FC played to a 1-1 draw.
The home team BDF FC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Camilo Sanchez scored his team’s only goal of the game in the 33rd minute of play for a 1-10 lead.
However, an own goal by Kyle Budna (a BDF FC player) in the 62nd minute of play tie the score at 1-1.
At the sound of the long whistle it was indeed a 1-1 draw.
At the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town, Wagiya SC and the defending champions the San Pedro Pirates also played to a 2-2 draw.
The home team, Wagiya SC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Elroy Kuylen scored his team’s first goal of the game in the 5th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead.
It was not until the second half of the game that the visiting San Pedro Pirates was able to make it onto the scoreboard when Anderson Palacio scored his team’s first goal of the game in the 51st minute of play to tie the score at 1-1. The San Pedro Pirates then took a 2-1 lead when Mailson Moura scored his goal in the 59th minute of play. However, Oscar Palomino scored the equalising goal for the home team Wagiya SC in the 90th minute of play to tie the score at 2-2.
The competition will continue this coming weekend with four more games on the schedule.
