A 21-year-old well-known resident of Kraal Road and no stranger to police has been charged in connection to a shooting on George Street in which two men, Luquan Flowers and Mark Phillips, were injured. Jason Horace Anderson, also known as Jason Williams and the son of well-known Jason “Soup” Williams, was in court on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 where he was read six criminal and indictable offenses; two counts of attempted murder, two counts of use of deadly means of harm, and two counts of grievous harm. He was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford who explained that a preliminary inquiry (PI) will be conducted and if there is sufficient evidence, the matter will be committed to the Supreme Court.
Due to the nature of the offenses, bail was denied to Anderson and he was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until November 20, 2019.
The men, both 20-year-olds, received varying degrees of injury during a shooting incident which happened on George Street on Sunday, September 8, 2019. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett, Luquan Flowers and Mark Phillips were socializing at a house on George Street when, just before 12:00 p.m., a gray SUV came from the direction of Racecourse Street contrary to the flow of traffic. One person from that vehicle fired several shots at the socializers, resulting in the injuries.
Flowers and Phillips were taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where the men were treated for gunshot injuries to the lower parts of their bodies.
Anderson has another case of attempted murder pending PI before the lower court for which he was out on bail for. He and Reese Fitzgibbon were jointly arraigned on January 8, 2018 on two counts each of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, wounding, and dangerous harm upon Steven Findley and Tyrone Barcelona.
