There was an armed robbery at Chen’s Store in Bella Vista Village in the Stann Creek district on September 10, 2019. Unfortunately, an attack on the store’s proprietor, Jingzhang Xu, turned fatal. Police responded to the report of an armed robbery around 7:20 p.m. and upon their arrival, they met Xu with gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by the building’s landlord to rush Xu to the polyclinic in Independence Village, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have so far learnt that just after 7:00 p.m. while Xu was in his store, a man, dressed in camouflaged and armed with a firearm, demanded money. He thereafter shot Xu multiple times to the body.
Xu’s body now awaits a post mortem examination. Police are investigating and no one has yet been detained in relation to this armed robbery turned murder.
