Ever since his recent accident and resulting head injury, speculation has been rampant about the mental faculties of the Leader of the Opposition. There are people who have said that he may not be playing with a full deck of cards. Some have gone as far as to suggest that he was not too sharp even before his accident. They have said that he has not been getting much power from his engine room for a long time. There are some persons in his party who would like to take advantage of his condition at this time.
With all his seepage though, the one thing that we are certain was not affected are the trust issues he has in regard to certain members of his party. You may recall, that he never took even a day off from his leadership seat while he recuperated. For him to have taken any time off, that would have meant, he would have placed one of his elected parliamentarians in charge during his absence, and he does not trust any of them. He is weary of them not wanting to leave the seat upon his return.
That mistrust he has for them was on display on the 10th September in Belize City. Rather than having any of his four Belize City members of the House of Representatives stand in for him at the Official Ceremony held in Belize City; he dispatched Jose Mai all the way from Orange Walk, to be his stand in. Johnny did that and bypassed four of his ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES. Two of those elected officials are former leaders of his party, one of whom is not only a former leader, but he is a former two-term Prime Minister. Then one of the other two officials is his SENIOR DEPUTY who he had handpicked and placed over all his other deputies. The final official, although he has no senior rank in the party, he too was also once a Deputy Party Leader. Johnny it appears does not trust them to sit in his chair even temporarily!
