Last week, it was reported that a 15-year-old was allegedly approached by someone known to her as ‘Shish’ while they were in San Ignacio before she was forced into a vehicle and driven to Belize City against her will. The police have finally caught up with, arrested, and charged the accused, 45-year-old Bartolo Shish. The Belizean businessman and resident of San Antonio Village was charged for forcible abduction and sexual assault.
According to the 15-year-old girl, she was walking near the San Ignacio Welcome Center around 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019 when she was approached by Shish, someone she used to work for. He proceeded to take away her cell phone before forcing her into a vehicle. He drove all the way to Belize City and during the ride, he attempted to sexually assault her multiple times. It was not until the pair were in a traffic jam on Regent Street that the minor says she managed to escape the vehicle and ran into a business where she contacted the police.
Of note is that Shish was recently released from a charge of murder.
