Allison Cuthkelvin, a 34-year-old fisherman from Tibruce Street, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison. He was sentenced to three years in jail for breaking into his ex-common-law wife’s house, stealing from her, and then trying to escape by hiding in the ceiling.
According to Denise Martin, a teacher from a Lacroix Boulevard address, she called the police when she arrived home and realized that her microwave was missing. When the police showed up, they found Cuthkelvin hidden in her ceiling. It appears that while Martin was at work between January 31, 2018 and February 1, 2018, Cuthkelvin gained entry into her home by cutting a hole in the roof.
At his first arraignment, Cuthkelvin pleaded not guilty but when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, he changed his plea to guilty. His three year sentence is to run concurrently with a separate two year sentence that he is already serving.
