A duo from Belize City is on remand at the Belize Central Prison pending bail at the Supreme Court, after being accused of aggravated assault with a firearm. They are Adrian Swasey, 21, and Collet Morter, 19. They appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Stephanie Gillett to whom they pleaded not guilty. Due to the nature of the offense, bail was not be granted and they were remanded.

The incident is said to have happened on August 15, 2019 on Balon Street in Belize City. The alleged victims, Darlon Vernon and Kristoff Vernon, claim that as they stood on the street, two men on a single bicycle approached them. One of the men was seated on the bicycle’s handle while the second one actually rode the bicycle. One of them opened fire on the duo, but luckily missed. They made their way to the police station where they positively identified the shooters as Swasey and Morter.
