Joel Sutherland, a 42-year-old construction worker and resident of Scotland Half-moon in the Belize District is on remand after he was busted with a large quantity of marijuana. Sutherland was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Ford and was represented by attorney Kathleen Lewis. In court, he was read a single charge of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply to another person or persons for the purpose of drug trafficking. This charge comes after he was allegedly found with 12,456 grams, or thirty pounds, of high grade Mexican weed in his possession on August 16, 2019.
The accused pleaded not guilty but because of the large quantity of weed, bail could not be granted. He was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until October 19, 2019.
