Oliver Peters, 42, is in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after suffering several stab wounds during a family dispute. According to Supt. Alejandro Cowo, Peters was along with family members on Boots Crescent in Belize City on Saturday, August 17, 2019 when a dispute soon became physically violent.

Neighbors say that Peters was at home when he got involved in an altercation with his daughter and step daughter. Shortly thereafter his brother also got involved taking a knife and stabbing Peters to the back. He fell to the ground and was later rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

It is not clear what the nature of that dispute was, but it is known that Peters has had a history of hostility between him and family members. In December 2013, it is alleged that Peters stabbed his uncle Thomas Ferguson Sr. once to the chest over a land dispute, and Ferguson succumbed to the injury two months later. On June 11, 2019, Peters was acquitted when Justice Colin Williams ruled that he did not use excessive force when he inflicted the injury to Ferguson.  Ferguson allegedly confronted his nephew with a machete.
