A 27-year-old Belize City man was denied bail after allegedly being caught with an unlicensed firearm. Chadrick Elroy Usher was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Michelle Trapp on Monday, September 3, 2018.

Usher, who was unrepresented, was also read a charge of kept ammunition without being granted a gun license. He pleaded guilty to both charges but was unable to give a special reason as to why he should be granted bail. As a result, he was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until November 6, 2018.

According to police, PC Phillip Thomas was conducting a joint operation in Lindo’s Alley when they entered a house  which Usher was in. PC Thomas conducted a search on him which led to the discovery of the firearm.
