Police maintains lead in Premier League Competition Print E-mail

SanThe Premier League of Belize competition continued over the last week of play with six games on the schedule.

On Saturday February 25, in the game played out at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, Juventus blanked World FC by the score of 3-0. The goals for Juventus were scored by Osmar Duran in the 23rd, 50th and 58th minutes of play to give the visiting Juventus from Orange Walk the big victory.

At the Isidorio Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the visiting Police United continued on its winning streak when it blanked the home team the Belmopan Bandits by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Devon Makin in the 79th minute of play for the Police United’s 3rd consecutive wins of this competition and sole possession of first place in Zone B.

While out at the Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo, San Ignacio United FC edged Hankook Verdes by the score of 2-1. The goals for San Ignacio United FC were scored by Victor Morales in the 6th and 76th minutes of play, while Julian Maldonado scored the only goal of the game in the 90th minute of play for Hankook Verdes.

The competition then continued on Sunday February 26, with three more games. In the first game played out at the San Felipe Football Field, the home team, San Felipe Barcelona, also edged the Belize Defense Force by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Gabriel Perez in the 50th minute of play.

At the MCC Grounds in Belize City, the visiting San Pedro Seadogs and FC Belize played to a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, in the final game of the day at the Placencia Football Field, the Placencia Assassins blasted the visiting Paradise/Freedom Fighters by the score of 5-1. The goals for Placencia Assassins were scored by Elias Donaire in the 13th minute of play, Ashley Torres in the 20th minute of play, Dennis Serano in the 34th minute of play, Zerick Torres in the 47th minute of play, and Rollin Burgess in the 82nd minute of play, while the only goal of the game for the Paradise/Freedom fighters was scored by Wilmer Garcia in the 90th minute of play.
