Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, has told the press that the most recent crime in which acting principal of Excelsior High School, 44-year-old Alarice Andrewin, 39-year-old Vidal Antonio Yuman and, 19-year-old Guatemalan national Maria Delfina Juarez Lucas were killed at Andrewin’s home at Mile 10 on the George Price Highway. Williams explained that the matter, “deserves a strong response from police. We want to assure the public that that level of response from the police is there.”

Willimas stated that the matter deserves a senior level of investigation and has since appointed Officer Commanding CIB in Belize City, Alejandro Cowo as lead investigator with acting Head of National Crime Investigations Branch Hilberto Romero being appointed as the case’s manager. Williams added that he will oversee the investigation. The investigation has empaneled officers from the Special Branch’s Anti-Gang Task Force as well as the Financial Intelligence Unit. The task force he says was put together specifically to pursue this investigation and that they will not be given any other tasks until further notice. Williams concluded that the crime has caused the society to be uneasy but that he wants to assure the public that the police department is doing everything to restore the level of safety.
