When there is a sense of community spirit and participation, magic almost seems to be the end result. Such is the case of the Joseph Andrews Park in Santa Elena, which was transformed over the weekend by over forty-five pairs of hands working under marvelous weather with power washing tools, brush and paint.

In a release from the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council (SISE), the Council expresses being grateful with Miriam Ochaeta and her family, The Children Advisory Board, the Santa Elena Library and Councilor colleagues for repainting the Joseph Andrews Park.

One of the key forces behind the effort was Miriam Ochaeta from ‘For the Children movement’. According to Ochaeta, an excellent community networking alliance has been forged with the SISE Child Advisory Board (UNICEF Belize Child Friendly Initiative) via the SISE Town Council.

A special thanks to architect Ali Flores for providing the power washing tools and to Alberto August for providing ample water to clean the park. The staff from the Santa Elena Library took part in the painting over the weekend.
