Police have been able to remove a two nine-millimeter pistols, a revolver and a rifle from off the streets of Belize City in three different finds.

In the first instance, on Tuesday, February 5 at around 8 a.m. the special patrol unit was on Jones Street where they found a point 223 Ruger rifle with a silencer and three bullets. No one was in the area and the gun was listed as found property.

On Wednesday, February 6, the anti-gang task force were on patrol on Diego Street in the St. Martin’s de Porres area where they saw two persons disposing of firearms in a lot. The persons were stopped and a search led to discovery of two nine-millimeter pistols, one was a ruger and the other a Daewoo gun. Police have since arrested fisherman, Herman Oliver Solis and security guard Dean Anthony Williams pending charges.

In the third find, police conducted a search in an area on Linda Vista Street where a point 38 revolver was found.

Police say these finds are proving that the Police Department is actively targeting the problem of gun proliferation in the city and the country as a whole. These weapons will be taken in for testing to see if they are linked to any crime that has been committed in the past.
