UNDP and the Ministry of Health extend their partnership for HIV and TB Services Print E-mail

The Ministry of Health (MOH) in Belize and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has signed a new agreement to “Build Resilience through Innovation and National Accountability for the HIV and TB Response in Belize.” The UNDP is the principle recipient of a Global Fund grant between January 2019 and December 2021 and the MOH is a key implementation partner. The agreement includes funding for 2019 in the amount of USD $166,679 for innovative interventions to complement the funding available through the Government of Belize (GOB).

CEO Dr. Ramon Figueroa signed the agreement on behalf of MOH on January 29, 2019 through, which he highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to reenergize and refocus efforts to reduce the number of new infections, detect those already infected, and effectively treat them. Carla Zacapa, UNDP Resident Representative emphasized the importance of the strong collaboration between the Ministry of Health, the National Aids Commission and Civil Society Organizations so as to achieve and have meaningful impact on HIV and TB in the coming year.
