Over the weekend, 18-year-old Robert Lamb was caught red handed by a security guard while stealing a bicycle. Because he was caught in the act, the security managed to subdue him and in turn, he bit the security guard’s his finger. Despite the charge of theft not materializing against him, Lamb still appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January 7, 2019 before Magistrate Emmerson Banner. There, he was read a single charge of common assault upon Elden Linarez, a 29-year-old security guard who was working at Tropicana Casino on January 5, 2019.

According to Linarez, he got information over his radio that someone was stealing in the casino’s parking lot. Upon responding, he saw a young man and told him that he was not to be in the parking lot and that is when the person allegedly told him that he had stolen a bicycle.  They got into a struggle which eventually led to Lamb biting the security guard’s finger and escaped until the security guard caught up with him on Baymen Avenue where Linarez handed him over to the police.

Lamb pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $150 to be paid by February 15, 2019. If he default, it’s six weeks’ imprisonment.
