Ashley Meighan, who was arrested and charged for murder, was granted bail of $15,000 in the Belmopan Supreme Court on Friday, August 31, 2018. Meighan appeared before Justice Antoinette Moore where the DPP representative had no objection to bail being granted.

In 2014, Meighan was jointly charged along with Clement Bol for the murder of Chryslin Gladden. The gruesome stabbing murder of the 16-year-old Wesley High School student dominated the newscast after her body was found in the Lord Ridge Cemetery on Saturday, August 2, 2014. She was apparently stabbed multiple times on Friday, August 1, 2014 and left  dead. The police suspect that hatred and jealously were the catalysts for Gladden’s murder.

Meighan, Gladden’s classmate with whom she had a troubled friendship, and Bol were arraigned for the murder on August 6, 2014 and because Meighan’s documents could not be filed, it was not until September 3, 2018 that her bail application could be processed.

As conditions for her bail, she is to report to the police station once a week. She was also placed on curfew between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. She must also not interfere with any of the prosecution witnesses and be sure to attend all her court adjournments at the Supreme Court until her matter is disposed of.
