Police solve murder of custom broker, Eleazar Chan Print E-mail

Police have arrested and charged 19 year old Ronaldo Marin, a construction worker of San Jose village along with a 15 year old Belizean student of San Narciso Village for the murder of Customs Broker Eleazar Chan. Chan was killed in April of this year. The teenagers were charged on Wednesday July 4. The case apparently came together after Chan’s gun was found on Friday of last week.

On that day, police conducted a search at an abandoned house in San Jose Village, Orange Walk District where they found a point 22 rifle bearing serial number 03362195.

Investigations revealed that the gun belonged to Eleazar Chan, a 42-year-old Belizean customs broker of Louisville Village, Corozal District who was found murdered on April 1, 2018.

On Easter Sunday at around 2:00p.m. Police in Corozal found the body of 42 year old Chan in a cane field outside of the village of San Pedro in the Corozal District. The body was wrapped in a hammock and garbage bags and was placed on a sofa.

At the time reports were that three men had gone to Chan’s home in Louisville where he was killed with a blow to the face. He was then taken out on a sofa set which was placed on top of a vehicle and driven from the home.

Police have not revealed how it was the came up on the weapon saying only that thay the firearm was labeled, sealed, and deposited as exhibit. Their investigations into Chan’s murder continues.
