It is seemingly becoming more common that criminals dressed in police uniforms are impersonatingactual law enforcement officers to prey on unsuspecting citizens. The most recent of these is a report made on Thursday, May 31, 2018. In that report, Laine Gee Fong, a 64-year-old Taiwanese national, said that at about 8:50 p.m. On that same day, two individuals, dressed in what appeared to be police uniforms, came to his residence in Ladyville on motorcycle. The two men indicated that they would be conducting a search at the premises for firearms and ammunition. Not having any reason to disbelieve the men, he unlocked his door and let them in.

Once inside, the men bound Fong and his wife before rummaging through their home. They made off with BZD $10,000 and USD $5,000 as well as cell phones. Ladyville police are investigating.

When asked about the police department’s concern with this and other incidents, Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino, CIB, commented. “Right, at this point we had a similar report of someone dressed in what appeared to be police uniform and using that to enter the residence.  At this point there is an intense investigation ongoing by Ladyville police to look into this matter.  I know that there have been several house searches done on known persons, known criminals and the investigation continues.”
