The Belize Tourism Board officially launched their new cruise app on Monday, November 27, 2017 at their downtown office. The app, which is free and can be found under the name “BTB Cruise App”, is compatible with both Android and iOs devices.  The app serves the purpose of allowing cruise stakeholders to see cruise ship calls to Belize in real-time and saves time as well as makes access to information easier.

Noriko Gamero, Director of Cruise and Destination Planning, spoke about the calendar feature of the app. A specific day on the calendar will be highlighted and below, the cruise of the days will be showcased.

Aside from the calendar feature of the app, BTB is proud to announce the real-time notifications associated with the app. Cruise tourists will be able to better plan their day according to their cruise. For example, if a cruise is canceled due to inclement weather of if there is a new arrival at a port, the app user will be notified in real-time. Also to benefit from the app is tour operators. If there is the closure of a site or road, operators can better plan their excursions and trips by using the app which also makes those notifications in real-time.

The app will be used for the Harvest Caye port as well as the port at the tourist village on Fort Street in Belize City.
