Police in Corozal have arrested and charged 52-year- old Apolonio Kiow, a resident of Santa Elena Road in Corozal with murder. Kiow was charged following the shooting death of 38-year-old who was killed at his home in the Chula Vista area of Corozal.

Sometime around 10:20p.m. on Wednesday October 4th, Bochnia along with his wife, Jeshana and their three children had returned home from a trip to Chetumal when he was ambushed by a gunman. Reports to police indicate that as soon as the Bochnias had reached home the gunman emerged from where he was hiding and fired two shots at Bochnia who was hit to the stomach. He then pulled the trigger against Jeshana but the gun did not fire. The gunman then ran off. The entire ordeal happened with the two younger children witnessing as they were inside the pickup truck that the Bochnias were travelling in.

While police have arrested Kiow, they have not released a motive for the killing which has left residents in the Chula Vista area of Corozal stumped as Gabriel was known as a friendly and helpful neighbor who worked as a contractor who would draw construction plans.
