Accident claims another life on Southern Highway Print E-mail

On Monday October 9, Independence police were called out to Mile 32 on the Southern Highway near Red Bank Junction where the body of Pablo Salam, a 28-year-old resident of Santa Teresa, Toledo, was seen.

Paulino Pop, a 34-year-old resident of San Roman, Stann Creek, reported that he was driving his Nissan pickup along with 5 others in the vehicle when they collided into a Hyundai Element which was being driven by 53-year-old Wilton Morgan of Elridgeville, Toledo. The vehicles collided head-on and Salam died on the spot. Pop received injuries to his foot and was transported to the Independence Polyclinic then to the KHMH. A urine sample was taken from Morgan and he was served with an NIP.
