Since arriving in the country a few weeks ago, the men and women of the United States Southern Command have been working toward the Beyond the Horizon initiative. BTH will consist of several projects across the country. A team of specialized personnel have dedicated their time and efforts to develop communities, rural ones specifically. The first phase of that project took place on June 9, 2017 at the inauguration of the Ladyville health center.

The keys to the center were delivered to the Ministry of Health by the U. S. Government. The facility will be home to a comfortable health center for patients from Ladyville and surrounding areas. The center will host a waiting room, bathrooms that cater to patients with special needs and disabilities, a triage room, private consultation rooms, and a pharmacy.

One of the reasons for building the center in that area was to develop capacity building. The areas of Ladyville and Lord’s Bank are growing. Dr. Ramon Figueroa explained that the new facility now caters to the needs of the growing population.
