Kaya Cattouse wins 30th Women’s Cross Country Cycling Classic Print E-mail

The Cycling Federation of Belize sponsored its 30th Edition of the Women’s Cross Country Cycling Classic on Sunday 14th April, 2019.

The 73 miles event started out in San Ignacio Town and the travelled the full length of the George Price Highway before making its way into Belize City, where the riders made a left turn onto the Central American Boulevard over the Belcan Bridge onto Princess Margaret Drive with the conclusion at the BTL Park.

The 30th Edition of the Women’s Cross Country Cycling Classic attracted 11 women riders, which included 2 Mexicans and 2 former Cross Country champions but at the end of the ride only 8 riders had completed the event.

At the end of the 3:29:10 event, it was Kaya Cattouse of C-Ray Cycling team that out sprinted Alicia Thompson of Belize Bank Swoosh, to capture the 30th Edition of the Women’s Cross Country Cycling Classic. Alicia Thompson who was defending her title finished in the 2nd position with 3rd place going to Nicole Gallego who is unattached to complete the sweep of Belizean riders. The other finishers in the event included Mexican Brenda Bianca Inigio and she was followed by her fellow country man Maria Montserrat Camargo to round off the top five finishers.

Gabrielle Lovell who is unattached finished sixth in a time of 3:56:03 and she was followed by Taralee Ordonez of C-Ray Cycling Team in a time of 4:00:31 and she was followed by Jane Usher of Sagitun in a time of 4:11:56 and she was followed by Shalini Zabaneh also of Sagitun in the same time of 4:11:56.
