After receiving cheques on Monday and Tuesday of this week, St. Luke Methodist and Calvary Temple are now the most recent schools to have received cash donations from the Belize City Council through the portfolio for Women and Children. Coucilors Hyacinth Latchman Cuellar and Kevin Singh visited St. Luke on Monday and Calvary Temple on Tuesday to deliver cheques that are to be used for Standard Six students gearing up for the Primary School Examinations this March and May. Principal Pamela Bowden accepted the donation on behalf of the students of St. Luke and Vice Principal Randeish Prior accepted the donation on behalf of the students of Calvary Temple School.

The idea to make donations to students preparing for PSE came from the Council’s Children Advisory Board which is comprised of children in the upper level of primary schools and lower levels of secondary schools across the city. The Council has now made donations to five schools and will hand over funds to three other schools throughout the month of March. The total amount to be donated is just over $6000.

The other schools to have benefited from the program are Queen Square Anglican, St. John’s Anglican and Grace Primary School.
