The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, the Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Percival Cho as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with oversight for the Fisheries Department, Forest Department, Department of the Environment, Sustainable Development, National Climate Change Office, and the Solid Waste Management Authority.  Dr. Cho will work specifically with Minister Omar Figueroa who has direct responsibility for the aforementioned portfolios.

Dr. Cho is a career public officer with over 17 years experience serving in the Ministry of Forestry.

Dr. Cho is a forestry expert and natural resource scientist who holds a PhD degree in Environmental Biology from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom, a Master of Science degree in Forestry from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Resource Management from Clemson University in South Carolina, USA. 

He recently completed a 2-year post-doctoral appointment at the University of Oxford, during which time he served as project administrator and in-country lead investigator for the United Kingdom-funded Darwin Initiative Sustainable Forestry in Belize project from 2014 to 2016, coordinating scientific research, poverty alleviation activities and capacity building work between academia and government.  Dr. Cho is registered as an Honourary Research Associate at the University of Oxford. 

He has served as a board member for the Friends for Conservation and Development and has served in various capacities on government committees and working groups. 
His knowledge and experience therefore spans Science and leadership at national and international levels.  The Ministry warmly welcomes Dr. Percival Cho to the post of CEO and congratulates him on his appointment.
